Chromodizing & Pre-Treatment
7-Stage Chemical Conversion Pre-Treatment for Guaranteed Coating Adhesion

Why Pre-Treatment & Chromodizing Matters
Pre-treatment is the foundation of surface finishing longevity. At Brightwell Industries, every metal profile undergoes a rigorous 7-stage chemical pre-treatment process — including alkaline degreasing, chemical etching, de-oxidizing, and yellow/green chromate conversion. This ensures 100% paint bonding and prevents under-film filiform corrosion.
The 7-Stage Chemical Conversion Immersion
Immersion bath sequence ensuring complete surface passivation for 20ft extrusions.
Stage 1: Heavy Duty Degreasing
Removal of drawing oils, grease, and shop dirt in chemical bath.
Stage 2: Water Rinse
Clean water bath wash to prevent chemical drag-out.
Stage 3: Alkaline Etch
Controlled micro-etching to remove natural oxide and create micro-porosity.
Stage 4: Water Rinse
Secondary wash.
Stage 5: Desmutting
Acidic removal of insoluble alloying element smut.
Stage 6: Chromate Conversion
Deposition of amorphous chromate chemical barrier layer.
Stage 7: Demineralized Rinse & Dry
RO water final wash and oven drying at 110°C.
